An answer to a question prompt by my dad right before a flight.
WHO AM I? WHAT IS MY ART, MY TERRITORY, MY PURPOSE?
Making clothes is my art. Bringing the concepts of 'flow' and 'wu-wei' into life through images, art, draping, sculpture and words is my passion. I feel the most myself when I'm lost in thought while moulding fabric on a dress form, while sculpting, when I'm looking for whales mid-sea, when I'm able to express freely, unrestricted by medium. I like to bring into coexistence the essences of many realities that I'm drawn to - deep seas, amorphous forms, outer space, quiet individuality, stark lines, fluidity, the inward aftermath of experiences and the time-travels via memories. I like constructed clean forms that possess a quality of formlessness. I'm a lover of outerwear, of fluidity represented by solid forms - like a frozen wave, a fabric fold set in clay, a collar moulded by hand. I have a lot to say through spaces that are raw and bare, spaces that allow people to be their authentic selves.
